This painting was commissioned by a good collector and friend. It’s a gift for his grandson to commemorate his achieving the eagle badge from the Boy Scouts of America. The background topographical map is a small portion of the Philmont Boy Scout camp in New Mexico. All the markings are by the young scout on his trek. The contour lines of the map were maddening to paint, but effective!
The Painted Bunting stamp is part of American Songbird collection issued by the United States Postal Service in 2014. My patron is an avid birder and his grandson has expressed interest in seeing this bird someday. Surely a must for anyone’s ‘Life List’.
